Three Perth artists bring their diverse talents independent from each other yet united with a common theme that embraces the idea of memory beyond reality.

Suzanne Nash is currently undertaking her Bachelor of Fine Art at Curtin University after completing certificates in Visual Art and courses in Furniture Design / Construction and Photography at TAFE. Applying up to twenty washes of paint directly over charcoal Nash works to capture the essence of her experiences as she travelled Australia in the 1980’s. Not concerned with details Nash simply translates onto canvas the impressions of the landscape embedded in her memory. Recipient of Highly Commended Canning Art Award 2007 and another in the City of Melville in 2008 Suzanne’s work is held in is held in private collections in Italy, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.

Joanna Wakefield has been the Art Curator for Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for the past three years. With an art background in ceramics beginning with a Ceramics Major in A Level Art in England when she was still a teenager Joanna has been winning sculpture awards since 1999. One of the fundamental aspects of her work is the human and zoomorphic form, often quirky yet quietly wholesome. Her smoke fired techniques aim to embody the sense of spirit within these forms, often inspired from the memories in her subconscious mind.

Yoko Webster studied Fine Art at Nihon University in Tokyo and has sold her paintings privately in Japan since 1978. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, illustrated artwork for Australian Fine China and taught Japanese woodblock printing at the School of Isolated and Distance Education WA. With her move to Australia in the early eighties, Yoko was challenged to contemplate her external and internal life in new ways. The textures in her paintings convey a sense of calm rather like gently changing clouds capturing her impressions of the universe and its energy. There are cultural elements that escape through her brushwork pooled with memories and emotions of recent times.
