The imprint of experience is reflected in both layers and the unity of the whole. This exhibition explores the constant dialogue occurring in the world around and between.
Bo Laidler has spent a large portion of her life in remote outback Australia. Since exhibiting at Gomboc Gallery in her earlier career she has achieved representation in both the Scotch College Private Collection and the Ansett Airline Public Collection. The importance of experimentation within Bo’s work can be seen in the many mediums used. This includes graphite, paint, found objects, and collage. Engaging with ‘almost anything that will make a mark’, she aims to uncover the unique dialogue left by ‘mankind’s imprint on the natural world’. ‘As the art strives to simplify it in fact holds many layers and facets that have come about through the eternal struggle with self and reworked process.’
Trish Ware's involvement in the West Australian art scene has spanned for over 30 years. Her experience ranges from part time lecturing at institutions such as Curtain University in Albany, to artistic accolades such as the 2010 Alice Springs Art Prize. In this body of work Trish intricately explores the notion of layers, the whole, and what lies between them. She likens this to the way in which the brain dissects images. This art ‘is about the interactions that occur when we enter into dialogues with another entity and the exchanges that occur in the gaps between two things’.
