OLD (MASTERS)... never outdated. The classics
As part of Elements Christmas show we are excited to present pieces by a collection of European masters, with works by; Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989), Philippe Henri Noyer (French, 1917-1985), and Marie Laurencin (French, 1885-1956), to name a few.
Laurencin was championed by Picasso, and was portraitist to Coco Chanel. Dali was a founding member of the Surrealist movement. Noyer was supported, particularly in the U.S.A., by a former head of 20th Century FOX Robert Goldstein. Following this patronage he painted portraits for starlets such as Elizabeth Taylor. Here is the opportunity to see the imprints, ideas, and workings of the original masters of modern art.
European style at your doorstep.
NEW… innovation. The latest on the West Australian/Australian art scene…
Hand in hand with the classics are the latest innovations. Unique, contemporary, perspectives on the world around us. RECENT WORKS from Australian artists such as Annette Allman, Brian Simmonds, Suzanne Nash, Mutsuko Bonnardeaux, Peta Miller, Joanna Wakefield and more.
In other gallery news, it’s with pleasure that we take this opportunity to welcome some new artists to the gallery; Lyne Marshall, Julie Polstodski and popular American lowbrow artist Bethany Marchman.
Emma Hack’s latest work (body illustration captured by photography) recently aired on ABC’s Art Nation following her success at art fairs in NYC and London, as well as with musician Gotye in his latest video clip. http://www.emmahackartist.com/documentaries.php. Her newly released Utopia series has been a hit overseas.
AND NEW INDIGENOUS WORKS.
Following a SELL-OUT show at Elements in May the artists from Tjala artistic community are back. Located in the northwest of South Australia, the word ‘Tjala’ denotes the Creation Story for Amata, (where Tjala Arts is located). The Art Centre was started by the women of Amata in 1997 and was originally called Minymaku Arts (Ladies Arts), it was renamed in 2006 to reflect the keen involvement of local Anangu men. In 2011 the reputation of this community has remained consistent, earning it a name as a place of quality work.
