DRAGICA MILUNOVIC 'MARKS' & JENNY DARLING COOPER 'HIGHLIGHT'
Opening Night, Friday 7th September 2007, 6.30 - 8.30pm
The labour intensive works of Dragica Milunovic and Jenny Darling Cooper will be gracing the walls of Elements Art Gallery from 7th September to the 21st as part of their respective exhibitions, 'Marks' and 'Highlight'.
Dragica Milunovic has this to say about her work, 'My art practice involves methodical application of thousands of painted marks that facilitate to create a sense of space and infinity within a painting.'
In contrast to this Jenny Darling Cooper continues to explore the grid, 'In 1996 I experimented with mediums in 'painting' the grid on a two dimensional surface. The finished works incorporated silver spray paint with acrylic. Since then I have abandoned traditional medium and introduced gold into the silver metallic grids. Multiple layers of transparent medium are then added resulting in a visual disintegration or blurring of the grid. The metallic grids may act to reinstate or restore the integrity of the grid'
Both artists graduated from Curtin University in 2000 and both have been exhibiting regularly in group, joint or solo exhibitions, locally or nationally. Dragica Milunovic has also exhibited in Singapore, New York and Los Angeles.
Opening times for the gallery: Tue/Wed 12-5, Wed/Thu 10-6, Sat/Sun 11-4.
