JANE MCKAY - TEMPORAL WORLDS
OPENING 6.30 PM FRIDAY 21ST OCTOBER

Internationally exhibited, award winning local artist Jane McKay presents a powerful solo exhibition of new work at Elements Art Gallery.

Entitled, ‘Temporal Worlds’ McKay’s formidable abstract paintings ensnare energy and life force, encompassing the earth, sea and sky in free flowing forms ,finished with intricate detail. The inspiration behind the works has arisen through an awareness of a dynamic presence beneath and beyond the surface realities of life and nature. A striking aspect of this exhibition is the incredible diversity within the works, ranging from the cool blues and rich, earthy tones in the aerial perspective of the “Mercator Projection” through to the macro view offered in “Seed Pods” which burst forth in sepia, cream and red. Although diverse in their attitude the paintings strike a perfect balance within themselves and each other.

Based in Perth, Jane has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally in New York, Los Angeles, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia and her work is included in a number of private and public collections worldwide.

She has also actively engaged in the sphere of Public art, working with the remote aboriginal community and school in Sandstone, Western Australia to create three public artworks. These were produced through a series of workshops and are now installed in the towns park and primary school.

Gallery manager Sue Nash is delighted with the result of Jane’s efforts. “Temporal Worlds offers dynamic, imaginative journeys which provide the opportunity to experience the landscape, the intricacies of the creative mind and viewers own response in synthesis. Her paintings connect with viewers at a spiritual and emotional level and this exhibition is a showcase of her truly unique work.”
