AMANDA McHENRY & MARGARET VINCIGUERRA

Opening Night, Friday 30th November 2007, 6.30 - 8.30pm

Elements is proud to present two well established, female West Australian artists, Amanda McHenry and Margaret Vinciguerra exhibiting from the 30th November.

Amanda McHenry will be exhibiting a series of large and small canvases depicting water, reflections and the mark-making created by cultures and the surrounding environment. These works evoke an incredible sense of calm, depth and placement.

Amanda McHenry: "For many years now I have been interested in the constant state of change evident in the natural environment. In a sense it mirrors my experience of what it is to be human. Water in its various guises is at times a refuge and at others a reminder of my own mortality and the impermanence and changeability of all things…" (2007).

Margaret Vinciguerra has just returned from exhibiting in Italy. She is continuing the 'Intersection' Series for this body of work which in her signatuire style reflect themes of repetition and ritual and are created by adding layer upon layer of either acrylic or mixed media on canvas and board.

Margaret Vinciguerra: "For the last five or six years I have become increasingly involved in ideas of repetition and ritual. I believe that the human animal is driven and comforted by repetition and ritual. Repetition is important at even the molecular structure of our being and we have for millennia built rituals into our numerous cultures for widely different purposes both in the secular and sacred realms." (2007)

Opening times for the gallery: Tue/Wed 12-5, Wed/Thu 10-6, Sat/Sun 11-4.
