CLEAR CONSCIENCE
Rowena Keall Walsh & Lyn Franke

Opening Night Friday 16th March 2007, 6.30 - 8.30pm

Environmental issues are becoming increasingly important worldwide and as such we often forget the effect on our immediate environment; the native flora and the delicate landscape that supports it.

Urban Sprawl and our desire to possess our own home makes an ugly alliance with nature and often destroys many known and unknown plant species or subtle ecosystems.

In that regard two artists, Rowena Keall Walsh and Lyn Franke have taken up the mantle of this issue by producing works that draw our attention back to nature; highlighting its beauty, uniqueness and fragility through the use of paint, scratchings, sand, stitch, use of natural dyes and threads and the incorporation of actual (specifically cultivated)wildflowers .

Juxtaposed to this are some works that hint at the conflict between nature and home ownership through the inclusion of sublimated house plans whilst others suggest the driving force of this exhibition through their title, ie Dune Regeneration.

Clear Conscience is at Elements Art Gallery, 16 March to 30 March. Official opening Friday 16th March, 6.30-8.30pm. The exhibition will be officially opened by Sabrina Hahn, Garden Consultant & Designer, ABC 720 Garden Guru.
