Caroline Christie - 'Slant'

Opening Night Friday 17th November 2006, 6.30 - 8.30pm.
Exhibition continues until 1st December 2006.

Abstract Expressionist painter, Caroline Christie, has worked with ever increasing energy on a brand new body of paintings for her next exhibition, Slant.

She has not stopped since the success of her solo exhibition - Enter, in March of this year, and is still driven by an unbridled connection with the circle motif and a love affair for paint and the painting process. This exhibition is a must see, it will reveal an absolutely remarkable group of canvases.

Christie's unique technique will once again seduce and stimulate responses. She uses gravity and chemical reactions to create spontaneous effects, upon the canvas, which give the works unexpected surface character and depth.

Christie's ability to work with the unrestrained materials and bring to them her own slant creates a conversation on the canvas which could be seen as a discussion between the conscious and sub-conscious mind. It is with no surprise that Christie discusses this conversation when questioned on the thoughts behind her paintings

"I see my painting as a parody of Life. There is the element of control and direction but also there is the unforeseen. The unpredicted often leads to my most beautiful discoveries."

Slant delves into the marvelous processes and cycles of life.
