Dr. Richard Walley is a leading Australian Aboriginal spokesman, artist, writer, director, designer, musician, dancer and actor who is well known for his contribution to the advancement and protection of the cultural heritage of the Nyoongah people of South Western Australia.

In 1991 he was awarded NAIDOC Aboriginal Artist of the Year and in 1993 the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). In 2001 he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Murdoch University and currently holds many board positions which contribute significantly to the development and welfare of his community.

The collection of works on display at the gallery will bring the cultural heritage of the Nyoongah people to the forefront with paintings inspired to awaken our individual sense of identity, sense of belonging to the land and emergent individual responsibility.

Also included in the exhibition will be a number of Cultural presentation sessions which will enable audiences to experience the essence of indigenous cultural perspectives, through art, music with didgeridoo, sticks, Nyoongah chants, dance, misted fragrance, and storytelling.

The work of Dr. Richard Walley will be on display from 19th April to the 4th of May at Elements Art Gallery, 340 Hay Street, Subiaco , Ph 08 9388 9960.
